A book chapter entitled “A Proposal for Solving the Refugee and Food Crises,” written by Prof. Murat Batı, Head of the Department of Public Finance Law at our Faculty of Law, has been published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing.

The study addresses two of today’s most significant global challenges—forced migration and the food crisis—together. Rather than viewing refugees solely as recipients of social assistance, it proposes a cooperative-based model centred on their participation in production in sectors such as agriculture, livestock farming, fisheries, and textiles.

The proposed model aims to promote the more active participation of refugees in economic and social life, reduce informal employment, strengthen social cohesion, and help alleviate the food crisis through increased production. The study offers an original policy proposal by addressing the refugee issue not only from a legal or humanitarian perspective but through an interdisciplinary approach that brings together economics, public finance, social policy, and human rights.

We wish our esteemed faculty member continued success in his academic work.
